1. Iris halophila (Iris halophila Pall.)
Iris halophila (Iris halophilais a perennial plant of the Iridaceae family.Iridaceae).
Herbaceous plant 50-100 cm high. The rhizome is purple-brown, slate, branched. The stems are erect, non-bendy. The root leaves are sword-shaped, erect, or slightly bent. The stem leaves are few, small, and pointed. There are 2 yellow or pale purple flowers on the stalk. The fruit is a blunt cylindrical box of greenish-brown color. The seeds are orange-brown, pear-shaped, wrinkled. The plant is light-loving. Tolerates soil salinity and summer drought. It grows on steppe slopes, saline marshes, wet and saline meadows.
A regionally rare species in Ukraine. Listed on the Regional Red List of Mykolaiv region.
